Repatriation Committee backs dairying as path to prosperity

The Repatriation Committee chose Lieut-Colonel N. Brazier and Mr J. L. Rose as Government nominees at a Thursday meeting. The panel urged land price inquiries and settlement plans for returned soldiers, asserting dairying on suitable land offers the district swift prosperity and soldier returns. A Balingup trench comforts fund dance raised funds despite bad weather, with a supper by Mrs Wallace and Mrs Bailey and a raffle netting £1 7s. Elsie Bailey visits the metropolis as a guest of North Perth residents.

Death of Dardanup stationmaster C Wilkinson at 44

The district mourns C Wilkinson a Dardanup stationmaster aged 44 after a two week pneumonia battle. He rose from Cobb and Co driver to Railway Department leader, leaving a widow and four children. Funeral by W Brittain and Son drew local sympathy with schoolchildren attending.

Accident maims fireman on earlier morning run

Mr Len Wise of Ramsay Road South Bunbury slipped on Andrew's Hill while firing the morning goods train from Balingup to Greenbushes. A wheel severed the first two joints of his middle finger. he did not notice the loss at first. He received medical aid in Greenbushes and returned home by the morning train.
