Bridgetown Road Board Meeting Clears Several Matters

The fortnightly Bridgetown Road Board met with members J. H. Smith, W. B Cutmore, A. Doust, F. H. Dakin, C. Allautt, J. McAlinden, C. Baud, and C. V. Draper. They discussed subsidies, surveys, property sales, blackberry clearing, flood repair grants, amalgamation with Greenbushes and Balingup Boards, War Savings and YMCA appeals, by laws, road repairs, and gate permissions.

Support for U S C A June Appeal at Greenbushes

A well attended Greenbushes meeting chaired by Mr C. K. Scott backed the U S C A June Appeal. Represented by Bunbury officers due to illness, speakers praised MCA war work and two returned servicemen testified to its benefits. Sir Walter James sent a sympathising telegram and a committee was formed to raise funds.

Harvey Drainage Board Meeting Seeks Drainage Funds

The Harvey Drainage Board met on Saturday the 1st. The secretary reported interviewing Chief Engineer Mr Oldham about borrowing £1500, a proposal previously rejected. Oldham advised expenditure, noting government and private land benefit, and proposed shared interest. Chatman granted permission to tile drain blocks 46 and A. Several drainage complaints were left to the secretary with discretionary power. Oldham was consulted on continuing drainage past Slaughter House Road and benefiting soldiers blocks. replies promised soon. Board account showed a debit of £7 7s 1d, and payments of £30 13s 4d were approved.
