Weather note details rain and anticyclone movements across Western Australia

Over the past week heavy rain fell in the BAW Division with varied regional impacts. A persistent high pressure limited coastal rain while a weakening low and Antarctic systems brought showers along the Leeuwin coast and into the Midlands and Great Southern. Strong southerly winds and brief gales marked the passage as a new anticyclone formed on the southwest coast. Drying followed, but very cold nights persisted across the SAV Division and eastern districts with temperatures falling to 26 degrees in some areas.
