Steamer Mongolia Bought for West Australian Government

Sir Newton Moore returned from Copenhagen with news of purchasing the new Mongolia for the West Australian Government. The vessel, renamed Western Australia by Lady Moore, was a former Russian passenger steamer of 2837 tons gross, 1628 tons net, built at Trieste in 1901. For about £40,000 she measures 234 feet in length with a beam of 48 feet 6 inches and a depth of 24 feet 6 inches, and travels about 18 knots.
