The Balkan peace conference at St James adjourned until Thursday to secure Turkish authorization for the settlement with the Grecian representatives. An informal meeting of ambassadors from the European Powers has been offered.
Dispatch from Viounta dated December 17 reports 20 000 troops mobilized and marching toward Trieste en route to Dal Ju Bosnia and Constantinople. A breach appears between Grand Vizier Kinmel Pnala and Nazim Pasha the Commander-in-Chief with Nazim said to have gained control of foreign policy. Military factions urge renewal of war as 250 000 troops are massed.
The British Government offered a battleship to transport the body of the late Mr Whitelaw Reid from England to America. Relatives have accepted the offer and Washington authorities await the next decision.
South African runner Walker beat Australian champion A B Peatly in a 100 yard race in Johannesburg. Walker finished in 83.5 seconds and won by two yards.
