The American and Australian S S line admitted receipt of five dozen toothbrushes consigned to N Z Dental Co Wellington. After delivery a broken package led NZ Dental to refuse acceptance. The magistrate found pillaging occurred before Wellington arrival and shipping company negligence contributed. Company to pay £31 4s 8d plus £6 costs.

Deutschland's Designer in Personal Crisis
Gotthold Prusse, a designer of the German merchant submarine Deutschland, died by hanging in San Francisco jail on September 18 after being held as an alien enemy. He had been arrested Aug. 20 for leaving a restricted zone without permission and spent most of his time aboard Deutschlands in New York, aiding cargo handling and engine work. he also served at New London during the vessel's second voyage.
