The Earl of Sefton dies at Sefton house Belgrave square after illness aged 78 born 1335. His heir Viscount Molyneux born 1867. Other obituaries note Prof. Jurgen Bonn Meyer at 63 and Tom Tagg waterman at Molesey aged Sith years. Colonel J Galloway C B Bombay Staff Corps dies aged 62 in Wenbron. A telegram reports the death of William Maxwell in Rhodesia after a trek failed by exhaustion. Earl Grey attends the funeral.
Officers of various Colonial forces in London join in a signed letter expressing gratitude for generous hospitality and entertainments provided by all classes during their visit, noting how pleasant and memorable the stay has been for both officers and men.

Two young men, Kelly and Boyle, were arrested in Carrickmacross County Monaghan and charged with murdering Dennis Kelly a 75 year old widower and farm laborer. Rumor says he planned to wed a young girl named McDaniel. Allegedly the pair dragged him from her house and kicked him to death on a country road.
Five bookmakers including Gorge Livesay Leeds William ulley George Byers John Bull and George Bridges were summoned at Epsom yesterday for using the enclosure to bet on June 1. Mr Stutfield for the defence sought an adjournment until after the Kempton Park decision. Chief Inspector Clark objected but the application was granted.
Yesterday morning an accident occurred on the London and North Western line between Shap and Turumby in Westmoreland. The ten o'clock auxiliary train from Euston, descending Shap bank, had an axle rod break on the engine right side. The tender was damaged and the permanent way suffered. The engine remained on the rails and the train was moved to Penrith after about a two hour delay.
The Colonial Premiers attended a two hour private conference at the Colonial Office with Mr. Chamberlain. Attending officials included legal assistant F H Wilson and assistants Read and Hon T Cochrane M.P. The discussions covered several points of high State policy in a strictly confidential setting.
A Berlin woman aged thirty one, wife of a house painter, killed her two sons aged four and two by cutting their throats and then died from self inflicted injuries on Saturday. The husband, hearing of the tragedy, went mad and was taken to an asylum. The family had recently fallen into poverty with belongings distrained.
A joint committee of London engineering trade representatives decided to send an ultimatum to Messrs Thorneycroft and Co. A Glasgow correspondent reports the Engineer Employers Federation will declare a lock out of all engineers as soon as the London men hand in notices. The federation had no word that notices were handed in and the men’s union cannot withdraw, making a strike practically assured.
A night train between Kolomea and Turka in eastern Galicia fell as bridge piers failed during a flood. Locomotive mail van and five carriages plunged into the river, seven staff drowned, and only a few bodies recovered amid a violent storm. Five trains from Lemberg were sent with aid.
The weather has been unsettled but hay harvests progress well. Wheat is in bloom. barley and oats grow fast. Prospects for a good year are modest but improving since Whiteuntide. English wheat quiet. supplies fall off and prices rise 2s versus last year. Foreign wheat markets inactive. American oats show some sale at 6d under prior Jubilee prices. Russian oats demand weak.
The drama A Ring of Iron was presented last night at the Theatre Royal before an unusually large crowd. The performance featured strong acting, especially Eva Gannee and Percy Rhodes, with a dramatic plot involving an heir discovering his past, wrongful confinement, escape, and eventual justice.
At yesterday’s meeting between military attachés and Turkish officers no agreement was reached on delimiting the frontier. Turkey accepted the eastern frontier proposals but backed away from the western boundary, claiming lack of instructions.
