Bridgetown Road Board Plans Through Road and Local Fixes
The Bridgetown Road Board met last Friday confirming a by law protest plan from RSL and Dr. B C Cook and a strong petition. They approved a through road from Winnijup to Sunnyside and discussed winter access on Wheatleys road with a rough estimate of 200 to reform it. They agreed a full board inspection of work, exempted some ex servicemen ratepayers from back rates, and planned inspections of Walker Moore and Bridge pools. The board will not reopen the regional hospital issue but supports Bridgetown Advancement Policy Pool. Show Day November 8 will be a public holiday. 16 ex servicemen with malaria were admitted to Bridgetown Hospital. Traffic safety measures include widening Tweed road corner and adding a white rail, and a spray program for blackberries next month. A presentation honored Mr E C Siggins for assisting visitors’ entertaining.
