Bowling Season Opens With Shields Presented

The Bridgetown bowling club opened its season with official bowls. Mrs. H. C. Jones and Mr. Malcolm Scott delivered the first bowls. Bridle townspeople from Greenbushes and Balingup attended as speeches lauded greens progress, membership efforts, and club facilities. Shields were presented including the Albert Pell Memorial Shield won in 1948 by Briggs Mitchell Bennett Pearce.

Baling Up Market Pig Sale Reports 140 Pigs Yarded

Elder, Smith and Co. Limited state their monthly pig market last Thursday yarded and sold 140 pigs. Bacon types sold well at late rates while store pigs eased slightly. Quotations list choppers to 11 10, bacon to 199, heavies and mediums to Want, lightweight to Tak, porkers to 9, slips and weaners priced.

Rider Smith and Co Limited yarded 518 pigs mainly good quality bacon cattle sold at market rates. Smaller pigs were fewer than last month and values eased. Choppers to 11 10. Baconets heavyweight 200. Medium 161 to 180. Light 132 to LAO. Barkers 4 to 80. Heavier types 117. Slips poor 21 to 25 good 43. Weaners 15 to 21.
