CWA Conference in Bridgetown speeds through fifteen motions

Family Walks 100 Miles to Deliver Sheep

The Sturges family of Tambellup drove 1000 sheep to farms near Mayanunp after a rail strike halted rail transport. Father, frail and driving an old utility truck, led the trip with the mother, two children, a sheep dog, and a few mishaps including a leg injury to one sheep and the dog's death near Boyup. They paused overnight in Bridgetown before resuming toward Tambellup.

Nannup Farmers Form New Union

A well attended meeting at the Nannup Road Board Hall formed a new Farmers Union in the district. W Jenkins was chairman with Fred Pearson as vice president and R Brockman as secretary. About 45 applications have been processed and a Nannup branch of the New Farmers Union of WA was created under the draft constitution.
