The Bridgetown Road Board met May 19 with Mr W P Scott presiding. Tender of £8 from L Wilks for old ambulance garage accepted. Numerous road and infrastructure items discussed including Eadle terrace closure, Roe Street works, school access, grading requests, and hospital loan deferment. Plans from St John Ambulance and bypass installation discussed. several items held over pending further details.

Road Board Conference at Bridgetown Opens Discussion

A road conference met in Bridgetown on Wednesday to tackle a rabbit and blackberry problem. Delegates from Bridgetown, Balingup, Capel, Colle, Dardanup Greenbushes, Manjimup, Nannup, and the Blackwood MPri fessional Road Boards attended. Mr W P Scott chaired, while Mr J J Smith MILA declared the conference open. a full report will follow next week.

Bridgetown Repertory Club General Meeting Notice

The Bridgetown Repertory Club holds its annual general meeting at the club house on Thursday at 8 pm to elect officers and plan the 1930 40 programme. The position of managing secretary organiser must be finalised and full attendance is requested as the club has struggled to fill this key role despite an offered stipend.

Eightieth Birthday Honours Mr W Coverley at Bridgetown

Mr W Coverley celebrated his eightieth birthday at Kinsomea Bridgetown on May 18 with family at Scott's Hotel. A dinner followed at the hotel with many relatives, including Selby, Wilfred, Rube, Aubrey, Allan Coverley, W R Connell, Jim Moulton, J McAlinden, Noreen, and Lowe McAlinden. The group later returned to the old homestead for long celebrations until midnight.

Bridgetown Hockey Club Ball Highlights Night of Fashion and Fun

The Bridgetown Hockey Club girls hosted an annual ball at the Bridgetown Town Hall last Thursday. Music by the Donnybrook Swing Four filled the evening, with Alma Rainoldi winning the lucky spot. A lavish supper followed, and numerous attendees showcased a wide array of frocks from floral taffeta to satin and georgette, noted by attendees including Rene Lake, Stella Lake, Miss A Leonard, Madge Williams, and many more.

Harbour facilities sought for Upper Blackwood meet

A Bunbury chamber of commerce and Ampers Union delegates met to discuss harbour improvements. They say deep water berth, lower freights, and better lamb and fruit transport are needed before any facilities can be planned. Girl’s Market in Bridgetown Raises Funds for Plan Project

The May Fair at Paddy’s Market in Bridgetown raised over £27 to buy a plan for games and a baby hand knitted set. Mrs He Moore won a prize. Stella Marshall hosted stalls and Mrs Chadse of the committee thanked all helpers who assisted.
