Failed Mine Licence Renewal Leads to Court Fine

Court heard an application for forfeiture by J H Smith of Greenbushes over a failed renewal of a mine special licence. The company claimed delays from staff illness and travel, and that a two year renewal was offered with a single condition for tantalite by Smith. The magistrate fined the defendants for not renewing, with default forfeiture possible if payment failed.

Italians Involved In Kirup Farm Shooting At 8 Days Grant

At Bunbury Police Court Maria Alfonsina Comisso about 30 faces murder charges for shooting Hlario Adino 43 at Kirup on Monday. She is mother of five. husband absent during the incident. Comisso allegedly told police she took the gun to shoot a law but Audino grabbed her and the gun fired. Audino’s body was taken to Bunbury for postmortem.

Timber mill worker Jarred to death in logging accident

Vasil Sarbin 65, Yugoslav born, died after a pinched bar shift accident at Greenacres mill. He fell while shifting logs and reportedly jarred his abdomen. He died at 7 am Tuesday after being taken to hospital. Sarbin was a well liked longtime employee.

Carriers Discuss Association to Stabilize Charges in Bridgetown

Bridgetown carriers met Tuesday night with plans for forming a Carriers' Association to stabilize charges and address petrol problems. Insufficient numbers prevented decisions, but the idea will be continued. Two old timers, Mrs Myrtle Klopper and Mrs Tom Savory, died this week, with Savory long resident in Kojonup.

CWA Honors Mrs Warren at Bridgetown Station Presentation

The Bridgetown CWA recognized Mrs J Warren for her service at a ceremony held at the railway station before her departure for Margaret River. Mrs J Kirk expressed regret but offered best wishes. Mrs O Neil presented, and Mrs Campbell gave a bouquet as colored streamers decorated the scene.

Culvert Rails Stove In Truck Door Fatality Hint

Franklin Morgan 48 of Eight Mile Well escaped fatal injury when his truck struck a culvert two miles from Bridgetown. The culvert rails stove in the driver's door as the cab rode the culvert and the vehicle skidded on loose gravel. Morgan was not seriously hurt and taken to hospital for shock.

Elder Smith and Co reported pig sale results with baconers up to 8 pounds 12 shillings, medium weights to 160, light weights to 30, porkers to 80, slips to 60, weaners strong at 38. Goldabrough Mort and Co yarded 180 pigs with baconers to 170, porkers to 100, slips to 60, weaners not listed.

Veterinary Adviser to Speak on Stock Diseases at Pig Sale Yards

On Tuesday March at 3 pm Mr OW T Carrell of Mort and Co's veterinary advisers for the State will lecture on diseases of stock at the pig sale yards. Anyone with sheep cattle horses or pigs showing illness are asked to bring them for treatment.
