Soldiers' Welfare Committee Annual Meeting Report

The Soldiers Welfare Committee held its annual meeting at the vaset Hall Friday evening with poor attendance. M W Toyer chaired and reported ten functions in the year and 62 percent of those on leave attended, with various presentations to service members and families. The committee proposed £5 assistance for a candidate and discussed attendance, future scope, and suspending wallet prevention while entertaining on leave, with the public charge unchanged.

Committee Thanks and Military Leave Granted

In closing my report I thank all who supported the past year including administrative staff ticket sellers doorkeepers and the ladies of the committee. The Minister for the Army announced special leave to enable soldiers to attend seasonal work plus social events cancelled due to conditions. Election of officers and appointments to committees are noted along with reminders to all to show support for the ward and unit activities.

Farewell Evening for Canon Strugnell in Bridgetown

Parishioners of the Church of England and the public may bid farewell to Canon Strugnell on his departure for Wagin. A social evening will be held in the Lesser Hall, Bridgetown, on Friday February 2? at 8 pm. Kuli jun PPA meets amid plans and condemnations

The Kuli jun branch of the P P A held a quarterly meeting in the focal hall with H B Weight presiding. Members observed a minute of silence for James Bignal. Motions for an annual conference were approved. The president urged 100 percent district membership as the branch grows. An annual meeting is set for March 15. Red Cross ladies served tea. The group condemned the Upper Blackwood Road Board for appointing a vermin inspector and criticized the Railway Department for using diesel rail cars on main lines. They favored using poison for rabbits on cleared blocks. The secretary E W Clarke signed off.

Funeral held with several mourners at Boyup Brook cemetery

Interment followed a Sunday service conducted by Revs Hy W. Pamian and others. Widow Mrs Butterfield and daughter Mrs M Forrest led the chief mourners with pallbearers including Mr. and Mrs C. Forma, Mr. and Mrs M. Dowsett, and Arne Forest. Records show Florian Glander, aged 80, died near Meriwolow on February 4 after a varied farming life in Western Australia including Brockns Siding and Pemberton. He leaves wife, son Plarian junior, daughter Mary, and son Edward.
