Export Le Rabbit Skins Probed for Levy Suspension
Mr. Nelson Lemmon the Minister for Works and Housing received advice from Mr. R T Pollard Minister for Commerce and Agriculture that the export levy on rabbit skins would be suspended from December 7 to April 30 1948 The aim is to steady a receding market and spur destruction of rabbits ahead of a prolific breeding season. The skins are mainly sent to the United States and Australia ranks second only to wool as a dollar earner.

The larger system works well but the nurses quarters small unit is inadequate. Mrs Vera E Walsh Dies at Bridgetown Hospital
Vera Ethel Walsh 39 a Bridgetown resident died Monday at Bridgetown Hospital. She married Thomas John in Perth in 1931 and is survived by three children Lorna Kevin Betty. Her funeral was held Tuesday at Buxtcecewnt cemetery with Rev Thorman officiating. Townspeople helped extinguish a nearby forestry operation fire preventing further damage.
