In this final 1938 issue the paper wishes readers and patrons a Happy Xmas and a Bright and Prosperous New Year. It thanks supporters for 1938 and promises continued cooperation and improvements in 1939, with progress and prosperity for the South-West and district.
A Thursday evening concert at the Town Hall by Bridgetown State School pupils drew large attendance. Led by Headmaster L Cockle and staff with Mrs Wright and Miss Wardell Johnson, items included a Butterfly Ballet featuring Patricia Wright and others, a junior song and dance On Yonder Hill, scenes from Aust Ven's Bride and Proprie, and a finale of senior choruses and violin pieces. Proceeds benefit the Parents and Citizens Association, with another show hoped for next year.

At the last Bridge Town Road Board meeting the chairman reported on deputations visit to Perth about Town Brook work. Indemnity forms were sent and replies awaited. A government loan of a concrete mixer was arranged and barrows would be hired. The board decided to raise a loan of £1,000 as its portion of the work, to be divided on the Central Ward.
Bridgetown Road Board members urge stricter measures against blackberries and propose officials inspect properties with rabbits deemed a menace in the Central Ward. A conference of Central Ward members is requested to finalise actions and notices may be served on ratepayers. The board also notes poor corrugations opposite the Nan mep crotd and thanks the secretary for cooperation over the past year.
On Friday evening Olga Beryl Forrest eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs P D Forrest of Maralganup Orup Brook married Robert E Roberi of Kellerberrin. A large attendance witnessed the ceremony with a full report to appear next issue.
Firearm licenses expire December 1 and renewals are urged immediately to avoid loss after December 15. At a children's concert last Friday Ted Glancy received the championship cup donated for the district interschool sports winner. Principal TE Cockle praised Ted's skill and lamented it being his last year. Afr. O'Brien, president of the Parents and Citizens Association, presented the cup and congratulated him.
At this week’s weekly practice the Eridge town Repertory club room hosted a Christmas social. The conductor Mr. D R Turton received a polished jarrah ink stand and cigarette container, pianist Mrs Chevis received two pottery pieces, and a dainty supper followed. An unrelated notice states My Payne Bridgetown hairdresser will be absent January 2 to 8.
