Bridgetown Infant Health Clinic will close from December 15 until further notice. The local committee remains active and will soon present a new proposal regarding obtaining a new sister.
About thirty horses nominated for six races at Bridgetown, with a large crowd anticipated. Club committee aims to provide top entertainment and sizeable fields, including the Staks, President's Cup, Collie Handicap, Boyanup Handicap, and Yornup Mile events featuring many noted contenders.
A small single seater car turned over on the main Perth Highway about five miles from Bridgetown as it approached a cream truck from Tividgetown. Driver Thomas Bold and his wife Constance were uninjured aside from minor hurts and were treated at Bridgetown Hospital.
Bridgetown Hospital Board hears the newly installed hot water system in nurses quarters is insufficient. The visiting committee report notes the boiler can supply hot water for only about two and a half baths per firing, with the chairman calling the boiler a glorified bath heater and faulting cost responsibilities.
The Winnijup branch met in Winnijup Hall on Friday evening December 5 with seven teen members present. Malcolm Scott chaired the meeting as Traine outlined the union's aims and urged active member support. Don Walter of Bridgetown attended and praised the response.
Charles Thomas Mullins and Victor Jellico Osborne were fined £2 plus costs after pleading guilty to stealing one duck and two fowls valued at £1 10s from John Cooper Giblett. Prosecutor Sgt Nicholls said Giblett reported losses from a farm he did not inhabit. the men were seen leaving the premises on Sunday.
In a Sunday match the left handed bowler Gray took four wickets for no runs in his seventh over. He dismissed Clive Perks Charlie Perks and Les Yates in successive balls. The earlier display by Paunkerville Greenbushes echoed the feat with similar success the prior week.
Mr. H Jones of the Bridgetown State School staff was formally farewelled by the Parents and Citizens Association at its Monday night meeting. He has been transferred to Broome and expressed appreciation for the northern community as he and his wife prepared to relocate.
