The Bridgetown Rose Society announces an August meeting at All Classes 3 enna. Members and guests are urged to bring pots, novelties, and any available powers. A spring show is planned with improved displays and public interest in mind. Membership is five shillings per year.
Bridgetown club members played in wind rain and ice for the qualifying round of the club match trophy. The first 16 in each grade advance to the first round on Saturday August 12 with ball trophies for non qualifiers. Final pennant results put Bridgetown ahead of Manjimup by two matches to six.
Ay W P Scott J P returns to the State Tuesday and plans motor trip to Perth to meet Mrs Mudford and Shirley. Lea Wall of Bridgetown sport office transferred. Engagement announced May 1 between Margaret Catmore Bridgetown and Kenneth Brooks Burley Kalgoorlie. Stewart Toy Nedlands motored to Perth after holiday with Edwards and sons Bridgetown.
The Bridge town Hospital Auxiliary annual meeting reports a busy year with funds raised through bridge afternoons and raffles totaling £36 7s 9d. Rose Gale’s wedding to Arthur Doe is celebrated with a church ceremony and reception at East Nannup. officers chosen for the coming year include President Mrs Draper and Secretary Mrs Thomson. A separate incident reports Mr J A Smith MLA injured when his car overturned on Tweed road near East Nannup after a ceremony reception attended by local residents.
The Bridgeton Parents and Citizens' Association held a well attended meeting at the school to discuss the new hall project. A future event is planned for September 22 and the next hall related gathering is set for September 5 at 4 30 pm with a call for public support and materials.
The Bridgetown Repertory Club choral section with orchestra and drama units gave a concert in Bridgetown Town Hall last Tuesday evening. The programme was well produced though attendance lagged. A full report will appear next week.
