The Bridgetown Road Board discussed funding and work on the Yorupnup mill road and Thompson's Road. Members debated grant amounts from £30 to £40 for gravelling and considered grading up to £40 with additional costs to be borne by contractors. Housing and repatriation matters were also touched on, with a local committee to be formed.
The Bridge Town Road Board bids farewell to Mr. J. J. McAllinden as he retires after 26 years of service. Board chairman and members praise his local authority knowledge and dedication while noting his long, steady leadership and wish him well. A new Central Ward candidate, Mr. Colin Scott, seeks election as McAllinden’s departure leaves a vacancy.
A front door notice at the Brittania Cafe signaled a temporary closure for Easter. Inquiry shows owners Mr and Mrs C Prastidis and their son Jim were holidaying together in the city, a first in fifteen years. Business as usual resumes now that they are back.
State School Mr. West, compulsory officer who inspects school rolls and attendance, has visited Bridgetown and other schools in the south west. Mr. EB K flour M.L.A will stay at the Bridgetown Hotel from May to May 13 and will be available for electorate business.
