The Department of Agriculture announces potato contracts for the 1944 45 season in early districts. NSW must grow 48 000 acres. total early district area similar to last year. Pay as you earn new system to start in July

Promised July implementation introduces two methods for income tax deductions. Group scheme applies to employers with ten or more employees using tax instalment deductions. under ten employees, stamp method with wages record book replaces current practice. Registered group employers continue current deductions until June end, then switch. Smaller employers must obtain a wages record book from post offices, buy new stamps, affix them to each employee’s wage record, and have stamps cancelled monthly. Record retention lasts to financial year end or employee termination. Contact Taxation Office for problems. growers urged to reserve seed for upcoming season.
