Death of Miss Mary Yeo Prominent Yass Citizen

Mary Elimbeth Yeo died at Yass District Hospital on 13th inst aged 74. A pioneer in shorthand and typing, she ran a Yass private school for years. She attended the 1922 CWA Conference in Sydney and led the Yass branches of CWA and Red Cross. She helped Yass VADs, Girl Guides, Boy Scouts, and the Philately Society, wrote a history of Yass, and was elected to the CWA International Committee.

Junior Farmers Schools Announced at Hawkesbury and Wagga

The Hon. E. H. Graham announced two Junior Farmers schools to start in June at Hawkesbury Agricultural College Richmond and Wagga Agricultural College. Thirty students will attend Hawkesbury and fifteen will attend Wagga. Courses cover Poultry farming Vegetable growing Agronomy and Animal Husbandry with selection from local Junior Farmers clubs.

Retiring Show Secretary Honored by Society

At the Show Society meeting last Saturday the President commended Geoff Giddings for his outstanding service as secretary before his resignation due to leaving the district. Members praised his dedication and a personal donation was suggested, with a proposal for a group or individual contribution. The discussion concluded as Mr Giddings rejoined the meeting.

Lambs In Pouches Verdict For Damages In Bee District

In Bee District a jury found Frederick Carpenter liable for 203 pounds 6 shillings for the destruction of sheep owned by Harold P. B. D Arcy by his dogs. Testimony included humorous remarks about sheep appearing on two legs and hopping like kangaroos. The judge ruled for the plaintiff, awarding 203 pounds 4 shillings, the value of the sheep destroyed.

Representatives at Braidwood thank the public for support. Total raised was 264 73. Winners of competitions decided at Braidwood National Theatre on Saturday Sund May were Clock Colin Cargill Red Lamp Mr. Turner Canistera Miss Jones.

Successful Sale At Goulburn Sheep Yard Auction

A large sale of 22 000 sheep at Goulburn yards by Goldsbrough Mort. and Co. Ltd and New Zealand Loan as agents drew buyers from Bendigo Heathcote Albury and Sydney. Strong demand cleared yarding with brisk bidding and high prices for Merino wethers ewes and lambs as outside buyers predominated. Yarding dispatched by mid day after starting 2 15 pm with help from yards staff and Railway Department.
