Mary Coffey achieved success in the intermediate certificate examination and also passed in intermediate piano Rudiments theory mathematics and ancient history. She also did well in the French conversation division B. Marjory Torpy passed in elementary piano and in the eighth class for Christian doctrine Bible history writing and English and had the highest aggregate in her class.

Peculiar Mishap of Mrs McRae at Monga
Mrs G P McRae of Monga was bitten while pulling curtains, developing a swollen finger with two punctures and faintness. Dr Traill treated her with restoratives and she is now out of danger. It is believed a poisonous spider caused the bite. Last year she was bitten on the leg by a similar creature.

War Chest Dance at Marlowe raises funds in district
A large turnout at Marlowe’s war chest dance in P Kilig’s shed featured the Braidwood Band, a lavish supper organized by Mesdames King Thorne C H Stewart and Misses Stewart Hush and Hailey, and raffles with items such as a pipe and sheep. Badges added about £20 and raffles £25. toy bulldog sold for £5 168. A card tournament was won by Miss Byrne and Mr H Evans. hosts P King George Stewart and P Roberts received high praise for hospitality. The final total will be known soon, but Marlowe’s effort is seen as exceptional for the town.
