73rd Anniversary Discovery of Port Denison
The seventy third anniversary recalls the 1880 voyage of Captain H. D. Rivelour and crew aboard the Santa Barbara t discover Port Denison now Sinclair Bay. The party named islands Poole and Thomas and faced reward disputes after Queensland separation. Sinclair drowned in 1808. locals urge erecting a granite obelisk with a brass plaque to commemorate the discovery.
