In Gosford on Monday Destis Hugh Humphries 43 killed his wife Martha Amelia 87 and his two sons Owen Leslie seven and Clarence five then died by suicide at a four room cottage by Ourimbah Creek. An incomplete record notes he struck his wife with an axe as she washed dishes and then killed the two boys with the axe before ending his own life. He was a returned soldier and a linesman, believed driven by financial worries.
