Open road links Monaro with Eden via Lochiel route
A newly opened 4 mile road from Lochiel to Nethercote shortens travel from Bombala to Eden and links Monaro with Eden. Built by E Meaker and J Melville with neighbour aid after ploughing, the route offers good water and feed for teams and cuts 15 miles for trips to Biden, Kinh, Towamba, and Genoa via EB Phegge’s farm. The prior route proved costly for Lochiel due to pig losses in Melbourne.
