Country Women’s Assoc Visit Pleases Bombala Members

Mrs. Matt Sawyer state president of the Country Women’s Association visited Bombala on December 6. Miss Ferguson and Miss Garnool hosted and gave a luncheon and a late afternoon meeting at the School of Arts. Mrs. Sawyer spoke on NSW branches, rest rooms, emergency housekeepers, and aims to brighten country life. The group highlighted services aiding mothers, bush women, and closer ties between country and city.

Riverina wreck off Gabo Island prompts salvage report

The Riverina wreck near Gabo Island was observed breaking up with the fore mast standing and heavy seas washing the forecastle. Passengers of 142 were landed a week after grounding on April 17 1927. Salvage efforts ceased last March after about £16000 spent.
