Country Women's Association December meeting notes

The December meeting was poorly attended due to a storm. The Treasurer reported repaying £70 to Head Office for Mest Room, £18 11 3 from the Dramatic Society, and £4 from the November Street Stall. Bank balance stood at £33 16 11. The group agreed to distribute Christmas Cheer to needy families and earmark stall proceeds for Hospital Christmas cheer. A vote of thanks to the Dramatic Club was passed and the secretary to congratulate Country Life on their edition.

Preston Bride Muriel Kupsch Weds Howard Tweedie

Mr Charley Kupsch witnessed the marriage of his elder daughter Muriel Kupsch to Mr Howard Tweedie at Regent Presbyterian Church Preston. The ceremony was conducted by Rev W Anderson with bridesmaids Miriam Tweedie and Joyce Kupach and best man Bob Englow.

Manly Rugby Official H J Callener Dies at North Shore

H J Callener, long time Southern Monaro representative on the N S W Rugby Union Council, died December 7 in Royal North Shore Hospital. He visited Bombala as manager of the Manly first grade team on several occasions. A wreath was sent by the S M R Union. New stock just opened. MIS. C Ellison next to Econome Stores.

Presbyterian Fair and Flower Show Yields Fifty Pounds

The Presbyterian Fair and Flower Show held last Saturday raised about £70. Awards listed include Cooking and Flowers with winners such as Miss H. Tome, Mrs. Elton, Mrs. Dent, and Mrs. Nicholson. Several stalls and competitions were run under organizers Mr I. Martin and committee members.

B N A Branch Faces Possible Closure At Cathcart

Local correspondent reports dwindling support may end the Cathcart branch of the B N A. Mrs Baker aged 94 died at Bombala Hospital and was buried with Rev S Broadfoot officiating. Dairymen hear renewals due by the 15th with forms obtainable at the police station.

Rainfall and Tragedy Mark Delegate Month

Rain totals reached 126 points for the month at the post office with 62 points in town. A Sunday cricket match on the local ground saw Delegate defeat a shearers’ side 132 to 131. Joan Commone of Delegate Hospital died Monday at age seven after illness. the Rev. G B Thompson led the graveside service Tuesday.

Death of Mrs John Ingram Pioneer of Southern Monaro

Mrs. John Ingram aged 86 died Thursday night at the Glenroy home of her son C T Ingram. Born Ashton near Bombala she was the first white child in that area. Her husband predeceased her twenty years ago. Survived by six sons and five daughters, 82 grandchildren and 57 great grandchildren. Delegate Argus.
