Death of Mrs Mary Rolfe widow of Samuel Rolfe

Mrs Mary Rolfe, widow of Samuel Rolfe of Jincumbilly, died at Berry Hospital after a paralytic stroke. She had lived with her son Joe at Nowra in the past year, and her coffin was brought to Bombala for interment after Joe and his brother returned from Nowra. The service was read by Rev. Mr. Cutcliffe. She was 74, born at Ironmungie, previously lived in Bungarby, and left many siblings and children in New South Wales.

Wool Industry Alarm Over Synthetic Wool Imports

Synthetic Wool MY. Mair MLA warned in Parliament that synthetic wool imported as artificial silk and sold for a quarter of the genuine article is harming the Australian wool industry. He urged a higher tariff classification and duty to counter displacement of wool and protect woolgrowers from serious losses.

Bom bala Branch of the OWA held its annual meeting in the Rest Room on Saturday with 21 members present led by Mrs Tweedle. The meeting approved the receipts and payments for the year to November 1987 and noted a £116 result from the Popular Girl Competition with trophies awarded to three candidates. The treasurer reported a current credit balance of £297 19s 2d and no further meetings were planned until February.
