Wanda Fay Elliott aged six died when a car driven by John Charles D Arcy struck her on Dickenson Street Bomala near the court house late Saturday night. Her mother Mrs Hazel Elliott grievously injured and father Henry Elliott aided at the scene as witnesses described the dusty road conditions and the sober driver’s braking efforts. The coroner later ruled the death accidental with prognosis of long hospitalization for Mrs Elliott who remains at Bombala Hospital.
Witness Tohn Charles D Avey described driving with Mrs Morrison and family toward town when a child suddenly appeared on the dark road ahead. He swerved to miss the child, stopped, and helped extract the girl and her mother from under the car. Dr Elliott and police arrived, the child was hospitalised, and the driver gave a statement at the police station.
