In London the NSW Premier Stevens told a Sun representative he had nearly finished plans for British financing of a large hydro scheme. The project would install plant and a vast power line network across a wide area to provide cheap electricity to farms in district centers. The Snowy River scheme, costing about £3.5 million, could power far more than the local area and may not be economic to proceed soon given current estimates.
In Victorta the government contemplates using Snowy River hydro resources with a Swiss engineer to report. Dr Qantas backs council cooperation and development, predicting major regional benefits while Dr Dalley warns of flood risks at Orbost.
