Bridgetown plans coronation celebrations with 1000 white metal medals for children under 16 and a fancy dress parade with refreshments. An adults ball in the town hall may run if a caterer is found to help cover other costs. The event aims to raise roughly £190 with community contributions requested.
A large crowd welcomed the Bridgetown Golf Club opening following a 13 hole mixed foursomes won by D Wauchope and Mimms of Balingup with runners up Mr and T Salvair. 1952 president O Sparks introduced new captain W Dwyer who declared the course open for 1953.
Personal Mr. J. Hearman MLA has gone North for several weeks to assist in the Kimberley by election campaign. During his absence the electorate is attended to by Mr. C. Henning MLC who handles local interests.
The Bridgetown Camera Club approved print competition rules at a Tuesday meeting and planned to move meetings to the C W A rooms from a chemist shop. Two new members joined and a photographic company speaker is scheduled for the next meeting. The president D Rafferty urged full attendance for officer elections amid a recent hike to gather study material despite dull weather.
Four New Zealand ex service members were hosted by Bridgetown RSL on April 27 during a Western Australia trip for Anzac Day in Perth. The group toured local sites including Mr. A. E. Marshall’s orchard and Paterson’s packing shed after a dinner at Freemasons Hotel and a social in the sub-branch rooms. President Mr. A. Harmer noted the visit was enjoyed.
Bridge Town grower Mr. Ray Long finds a tracked machine best for his Peninsula orchard. A £1200 16 hp John Deere crawler was tested by local agent Mr. R Urquhart and successfully hauled offset disc bars up a slope steeper than one in four. Three wheeled tractors failed earlier on the same grade.
The meeting at Lesser Hall discussed improving the trotting track surface with sands or quartz to reduce dust when dry and mud when wet. A top dressing plan was approved, a testing committee formed, and a dam to test water holding capacity was proposed. The club also pledged £10 to the road board fund.
Bridgetown post master Mr C W Roby will take a six months furlough starting this week. He has served in Bridgetown since December 1950 and will travel to Queensland with Mrs Roby for a spell among the pineapples. They leave Perth on Friday and plan to visit Kandanga Sydney Adelaide and Melbourne before returning uncertainly. Mr Roby is from Mussellbrook New South Wales and Mrs Roby from Queensland.
On Sunday Bridgetown Rifle Club held a seven shot practice over 300 yards. B Hubery led with 66 total from 34 and 32. Other results list Robertson 92, Tate 65, Shephard 61, Wilkinson 57, Lowe 58, Moore 55, Shephard 53, Brothers 53, Johnson 50, Gilchrist 49, Foster 46. Next week two seven shot bursts over 300 yards noted for a spoon.

By May 4 consumption fell to 364 000 gallons with total storage in Hesterdam at 2 189 000 gallons and Boyup Brook supply at 2 220 000 gallons with 103 000 gallons used in the week ending May 4.
The Public Health Department will not endorse a by law forcing all new dwellings to have septic systems until a continuous water supply is available. At the October 1952 meeting vice chairman W E Inglis and J H Cumming moved to require new homes to install septic systems and existing buildings to have septic dig pont systems by end of 1954.
