The Late Mrs. L. C. Doust

Lavinia Christine Doust died at 69 at Bridgetown after a period of ill health. Daughter of the late Cc H Klopper of Winnijup, she was born in South Australia and spent most of her life in the West. Survived by husband W A Doust and son W L H Doust.

Fire destroys two trams and sheds before rain arrives

The blaze gutted two old trams used as living quarters and tents nearby, then spread to a cream depot yard and a manager’s residence of Wesfarmers. Firefighters fought the flames with branches as they reached Roe street and Steere street. A false alarm drew about 20 fire vehicles, and rain arrived Tuesday morning, too late to avert the damage.

Local Government Officers Form South-West Branch

In Bunbury a meeting formed a South-West branch of the Local Governing Bodies Officers Association with officials elected including president G R Preston and secretary Ron Davenport. Members will come from Augusta to Greenbushes, as 101 of 148 local authorities have long service leave, and new claims and awards are under consideration.
