Bridgetown Road Board approves major sports ground on Leaning Tree Hill site 24 miles from Bridgetown. The plan includes a two lap to the mile trotting track a full-size football ground and potential hockey facilities. 100 acres to be vested plans drawn bids invited and funding sought.

Government raises butter prices 2d per lb July 1

The Joint Dairying Industry Advisory Committee completed its annual survey of cost movements and the Government announces a 2d per lb increase in farm returns at the factory door for butter cheese and milk products from July 1. The rise follows a 1947 policy guaranteeing prices for five years and aims to reflect cost changes with a lag noted by Mr J P Norton.

Letter Returns After Eight Years in Manjimup

Eight years after a letter dated April 1940 addressed to a European country was posted in Manjimup and censored before travel across the Continent it was returned to the sender last week. The addressee has since returned to this State and the letter will be kept as a remarkable travelled souvenir.
