The Bridgetown bowling carnival opens with strong club leadership and top facilities on the Blackwood River. President H. C. Jones and secretary A. E. Fire destroys pastures and sheep on Basildon property
A northeast wind fanned a blaze at Basildon, the Sykes Willmott property near Bridgetown. About 100 acres of pasture 60 acres of bracken and 30 sheep valued at £50 burned. Some 450 sheep on the property were spared thanks to early action by local men and crews from Goldsbrough Mort and Co. and others who assisted.
