Dairy Farmers Press for Butter Price Rise At Bunbury Meet

Col Davies said the Bridgetown gathering backed Australian Dairy Federation president J P Norton and backed a united dairy lobby to withhold butter supplies if needed to force higher prices. A referendum is planned with likely public support, while discussions with officials and the Premier’s push for state federal negotiations continue. Public opinion leans toward a price rise but many fear a milk and butter hold-up would hurt Australian children and fuel comparisons to strikes by miners and seamen.
