Relentless Pursuit Ends With Rebel Clash Near Duck Tikes
Left Fort Carlton to recover supplies, Captain Crozier’s party confronted about 300 rebels in an Indian reserve near Duck Tikes. After a failed attempt to surround Crozier, half breeds fired, police and volunteers returned fire. Ten volunteers and two police were killed, eleven wounded. Capt. Moore grievously wounded. Crozier retreated to Fort Carlton as Colonel Irvine arrived with 100 men and two guns.
