Art Club Anniversary. The celebration of the twenty-fifth anniversary of the Men’s Art club of Cincinnati was the occasion of a general reunion of all the members of the club, in which a good dinner and innumerable reminiscences formed two conspicuous and attractive features. The Art club was formed twenty-five year8 ago in the studio of John Rettig, in College building, now the Mercantile Library building. Its meetings were held in Mr. Rettig’s studio until the club became too large for comfortable accommodation, when it removed to quarters of its own in the building at 126 East Fourth street, on the upper side, between Main and Walnut, which has also been demolished, thus forcing the club to seek its present quarters in the Harrison building. Ever since the inception of the club Mr. Duveneck has criticised the work of the life class, which in return each year gives a dinner in his honor, and the two events were celebrated jointly. At one of the last meetings of the year it is Mr. Duveneck’s custom to paint a portrait at one sitting, the sitter being the only Invited guest at the annual banquet. This year the honor fell to Simon Hubig, who is a lover of art and a W'ell-known cohnoisseur. At the dinner Mr. Duveneck wag presented with a handsome silver-mounted cane with many expressions of esteem by the club. A number of the members have sought other fields, and sent letters and telegrams, as they were not able to be present. Among these wrere Potthast and Busebaum of New York, Frank Butler of Boston, Fred Boger of Savannah and Robert Valentine of California.John Reftig was toastmaster, and E. O. ;Elzner.
