Henry Smith Urges Broad Gauge Rail Route Choice
In a letter from Myrrhee, Henry Smith advocates choosing a line from Karn to Mahal kih over Moylin to Maliniisa to open timber country and reach Spring Creek forests. He argues the Karn to Mahal kih route serves six creeks and favors broad gauge, warning opponents to act now to avoid losing the last opportunity. He notes markets toward Melbourne and asserts narrow gauge has limited utility for Myrrhee district trucking stock.
