Wodonga cattle stealing case trial at Beechworth court
Henry Murphy, a yard man for Griffiths & Co., stood trial in the Court of General Sessions at Wodonga Beechworth on charges of stealing a bullock from Matthew Lindsay and a receipt of the animal. Prosecution alleged March 1908 thefts and linked Murphy to dealings with Goldsworthy and Black. After long testimony with witnesses from Lindsay, Goldsworthy, and Griffths staff, the jury returned not guilty on both counts.

Cattle Market at Corporation Yards Sees Varied Prices
A heavy yarding at the Corporation yards shows broad selling with strong demand for some classes and a downward drift in young cattle due to slackening Northern demand. Bullocks, cows, steers, and heifers traded in mixed ranges, with notable prices for short horn heifers and springers. Private sales and outside buyers contributed to a lively market despite wet roads and weather disruption.
