Recollections of Rev Alexander M'Connan and Benalla life
The writer recalls Rev Alexander M'Connan’s early Benalla charge at St Andrew’s, 1878 to 1885, praising his eloquence and lifelong devotion. He lists influential locals—D C McCarthy O Beary, Dr Nicholson, John Brock, and many Bank and hotel figures—and recounts Benalla sports, clubs, and notable cricketers, footballers, and community figures from the era, ending with a nostalgic desire to visit and reconnect.
