Man Fined for Shooting Dog at Chiltern Valley Mine
At the police court on Wednesday Antonio Garoni faced Henry Charles Hilton over a shooting of a dog on April 3. Hilton pleaded not guilty claiming self defense after Garoni's dog reportedly attacked and his pea rifle discharge occurred within six feet. Magistrate Beaven found no right to shoot the dog and fined Hilton 40 pounds plus costs. Also Constable Piggott arrested swagman Thomas Gibbs for refusing to leave Mr A Davis sadder’s premises at Avenel and using offensive language. Gibbs was fined 2 pounds or one month in jail.
