Benalla Welcomes Governor At 1924 Agricultural Congress

The 22nd annual Chamber of Agriculture convention arrives in Benalla with a grand arrival of the Governor Earl of Stradbroke, the Premier H. Lawson, and officials. A guard of honor, town band, and municipal welcome mark a festive opening. Delegates, politicians, and farmers mingle amid decorations, speeches, and toasts at the Shire Hall, highlighting loyalty to the Crown and colonial self-help spirit.

Benalla hosts farmers convention banquet with governors guests

A Benalla gathering hosted by the hospitality and the Benalla Agricultural and Pastoral Society featured Governor J. F. Cleary and Senator Pearce. Speakers praised the Empire, commended public service, and urged support for agricultural research, education, and colonial development while stressing naval and defense links and better marketing for farm products.

Warrenbayne School Picnic Ends With Races And Dancing

The Warrenbayne School annual State picnic was held despite wet weather. Parents and children gathered in the hall for meals and indoor games, then races occurred in the afternoon as skies cleared. Winners included Heywood Coish, Price, Ward, James, Vera James, and others. apple contests, flag races, whist, and dancing followed with music by Mrs Hopkins, Mr Coish, and Mr Stow.
