Avenel Demonstration Area Field Day Planned
On Wednesday October 2 the Lower Goulburn Bait Conservation District Advisory Committee will hold its first field day at the Avenel Demonstration Area located at the 75 mile post on the Hume Highway. Past visits to the area show a transformation from land destruction to restoration using modern ecological methods under careful control. Local landholders recall a time of hare and rabbit damage now replaced by reduced erosion and soil improvement, with the railway affected by the area’s restoration no longer feeling its influence. The field day aims to share up to date progress and invite wider community participation.
