A councillor was elected as president of Gow romhet football club with Mir Kon Whee as secretary and Witla aw liga as treasurer. The new leadership pledged to pursue a unified plan and strengthen the club’s future through stronger community ties and improved facilities.
A string of accidents near Benalla results in serious injuries and one fatal motorcycle crash. Mathew Hodder suffered a double arm fracture after a late-model sedan wrecked at 3.50 pm near a bend. a second crash at 2 am involved Harold Melgaard’s vehicle with no major damage. Mrs Pegey Short was treated after a neck injury from a car rollover five miles south of Wangaratta. Duck shooters were injured when two cars collided on the Hume Highway nine miles east of Benalla. Roy Thumpston died in a Midland Highway motorcycle crash, while Ronald McFarline sustained shock and McFarline’s passenger also injured.
