GREAT DISPLAY BYSLOGAL AND ARTISTS presented a full house at the Top Town concert. Performers included Mixa Simmons in piano recitals, Zul McDermott on violin, William Brown on piano, and the Cecilians Choir of St Joseph’s with Miss Lov i McCabe. Highlights featured Bob Don't Be Gros on saxophone, Ruth Allen soprano, Margaret Lawford soprano, and Al Royal with Bettly in a duet. Henalls’s unit and Dr Frank Harrisol’s able judging earned strong praise. The Benalla Memorial Band, under Mr J Hickey, opened with Step Along, and Madame Pavelovska sang La Traviata arias. The program closed with a strong instrumental by Ron Rook and a vocal turn by Al Royal. The audience responded with hearty applause and the local effort was hailed as a success.
