Grand Old Resident Bourke Passes in Benalla
One of Benalla's oldest residents Mr Thomas Joseph Bourke died at Goo matribee Street aged many years after a brief illness. Born in Thurles County Tipperary Ireland he came to Benalla almost 70 years ago. He farmed at Goomalbee before becoming a contractor for the Benalla Shire Council. Active in St Joseph's Church he was a leading Hibernian and helped with St Patrick's Day Sports and Convent Wood Day. Survived by his widow and five sons Rev James Bourke Lawrence Thomas William and John. Requiem Mass at St Joseph's Church and funeral at Benalla cemetery with a large guard of honour.
