Young Lurg Man Burnt to Death on Highway

A young man from South Australia died in a highway crash near Lurg while returning from Melbourne in a truck owned by K Greaves. Fire scorched 109 yards of trees along the highway and blazed opposite H Nicholson’s slaughter yards before daylight.

Obituary of Florence May White 58 Warren Bayne

The death of Florence May White 58 occurred at Rossmore on Tuesday. Born in Canterbury she married Frederick E. White 30 years ago. She was an ardent worker especially during wartime. Burial was at Benalla cemetery after a Holy Trinity Church service conducted by Rev. F. C. Moyle.

Benalla Court Hears Two Unusual Traffic Prosecutions

At Benalla Court last week Senior Constable Haag listed traffic offences against motorists with rear lights off and parking violations near the Bridge Street area. A defendant denied overlong parking claiming low traffic. a £1 fine was imposed by the magistrate for the parking charge.

No Rear Vision Mirror and Wiper Case in Benalla Court

Hugh Nichobon of Bridge Street Benalla faced Benalla Court on an unusual charge the first of its kind in Benalla for having no rear vision mirror and wiper on his truck. Senior Constable Haag gave evidence that an officer noted the missing equipment when Nichobon’s vehicle was observed parked opposite a design area near the station.
