A telephone theft occurred amid chatter in Benalla and Disaden Wife Chats. Two club members, Red Path and Gordon James, were named in No 6 Union for a match against MCC Caulfield and No 1s Union at Williamstown on Saturday following a prior theft months ago.
Congratulations are extended to Mr Des Smith of Ferg Hill and formerly of Tatong on his success in gaining six degrees of Bachelor of Civil Engineering. Des, son of Mr and Mrs P K Smith, was educated at Tatong, Benalla High and Melbourne University, taking his degree at age 21. He will marry Miss Betty Crgabart at Benalla and on February 12 they leave by plane for Darwin where Des will start his career.
Awap was fined £10 for indecent language at Benalla Court of Petty Sessions on Monday. The complainant said the defendant admitted using offensive words toward Webber after a few drinks. The court noted the defendant appeared very sad and warned he should be protected from such language in the future.
The Regional Officer chaired a Henalla Hush Fire Defendent Group meeting with delegates from all brigades. Discussion covered unreported fires, fireworks, and proposed prohibitions on sales of certain items, urging timely reporting and stronger controls to prevent fires and illegal activities.
