Wings Pasteurised Milk to Benalla, based in Shepparton, has operated a three week trial delivering pasteurised milk in a modern refrigerated van. Milk is heated to 162 degrees Fahrenheit, held briefly, then rapidly cooled to 38 degrees, killing bacteria while preserving raw-milk qualities. Van costs £11,000, holds 80,000 bottles, serving three local retailers. residents welcome the new service.

Two Benalla youths Owen Callahan and Brian J Turner faced Mansfeld Court on multiple charges of illegally using motor cars. Callahan received two months imprisonment with a two year good behaviour bond and liquor abstinence, Turner was sentenced to six months on each count with two months for larceny to run concurrently. further charges and a hearing in Shepparton were adjourned.

Fatal Shooting Trip at Foster Claims Goo amahat Resident
Mr Thomas, a well known Goo amahat resident, died last evening during a shooting expedition at Foster. He was accompanied by Mr Prank Ware and Mr Saville. An anecdotal accident occurred when Saville stumbled and the gun discharged, the bullet striking him. He died after being found by Mr Saville. Survived by wife and two sons Alan and Peter. A prominent figure in local sporting circles.

Popular Band master Farewelled in Benalla
Joe Hickey, cornet player for 50 years and head of the Benalla Memorial Band since its postwar formation, was farewelled by bandsmen at the Railway Institute on Tuesday.
