A Benalla civic meeting formed a Jubilee Cycling event committee to promote a local amateur race aimed at attracting entrants from England, Europe, Italy and Belgium. The plan includes canvassing businesses for support, coordinating with schools and police for safe routes, and notifying the public of detours and traffic arrangements through official letters.
After a long illness Henry Inane Fitzwell aged about 70 at Magennia Street home in Benalla district. Born in Melbourne he married Wilhelmina Kennedy in Benalla 37 years ago and is survived by four daughters Veronica Bernice Doreen and Beryl. He worked as an accountant and billiard marker and was active in racing circles. burial at Benalla cemetery after Requiem at St Joseph's Church.
Mr and Mrs E Herman of Winton announce the sudden death of their seven year old son Jashes Patrick at Wangaratta on Saturday last. Burial took place at Winton on Tuesday.

In Benalla Court this morning Daniel Gelvin and William Joseph Murpis, both of no fixed abode, were found guilty of idle and disorderly conduct. Gelvin was sentenced to three months imprisonment with suspension for two years. Murpis received a three month term.

Swanpool district schools Barjarg Lima East Dima South Swanpool and Samaria present a combined die play of pupils work at Swan pool State School on Wednesday August 15. The show opens at 10 20 a m.
