Land grant to returned soldiers in Culeau district
The government has granted 21 000 acres in the Culeai district for returned soldiers. The tract includes some of the best wheat lands in the state. Sapper W. J. Grant, an Englishman who settled in Uralla, has traced his claim to an earldom in the East of Sea Gald. The earldom was created in 1668 and the current earldom holder is the 12th in succession.
